A new day for mortgage

The process is broken for everyone in it. We're rebuilding it end to end.

Why we exist

A family spending time together outside their home.

A mortgage is the largest promise most people ever make. It should feel like the beginning of something. Instead it feels like a second job. Documents requested three times. Weeks of silence, then a scramble. A loan officer buried in paperwork instead of sitting with the person whose life is changing.

We have all been on some side of that: the borrower refreshing an inbox, the loan officer working past midnight, the partner who watched a client walk away. For too long, the industry has accepted that experience as the cost of getting a mortgage.

We think the work should disappear and the people should stay. Let the technology chase the paperwork and coordinate the process. Let people focus on the relationships, advice and judgment that matter.

That is the idea behind Elio: origination rebuilt end to end so technology carries the weight and the relationship carries the meaning.

Bringing a new light to mortgage

Elio draws its name from Helios, the Greek personification of the sun. It reflects our belief that an industry built around decades-old processes is ready for a new day and a new way forward. The sun is also the center of its system, which is how we believe mortgages should work: with loan officers and borrowers at the center, and technology operating around them to make every step from origination to funding simpler, more predictable, and more connected.

The work should disappear. The people should stay.

What we believe

The human keeps the judgment

Software should carry the busywork, never the relationship or the decision.

Trust earned through transparency

We explain the options, make costs clear, and speak up early when something changes.

Relationships stay intact

The realtor, the advisor, the builder: the people who got someone here stay in the picture.

Oren Michaely is CEO of Elio Mortgage. Drawing on more than a decade working in applied AI, Oren is bringing that experience to mortgage to rethink how technology can reshape the way loans are originated and mortgage companies operate.

Before founding Elio, Oren served as Director of Artificial Intelligence at Motive Partners, a financial technology investment firm, where he led AI strategy and initiatives focused on applying the technology across financial services. Previously, he spent several years at Microsoft as an applied scientist and software engineer, working on large language models, generative AI and reinforcement learning. His work included the early Microsoft-OpenAI collaboration before the release of ChatGPT.

Oren holds a bachelor's degree in computer science, magna cum laude, from Cornell University. His work today sits at the intersection of applied AI, mortgage operations and organizational design.

Arad Lev Ari is COO of Elio Mortgage. His background spanning real estate investing and finance brings deep industry and financial expertise to Elio's efforts to build a more efficient and scalable mortgage business.

Before founding Elio, Arad was a Principal on the Real Estate Private Equity team at KKR, where he led and supported investments, financing and operational strategy across a range of real estate sectors. His work included acquisitions, portfolio management and financing initiatives involving billions of dollars in real estate assets, as well as developing new investment theses and evaluating emerging opportunities across the market.

Previously, Arad worked in real estate investment banking at Deutsche Bank, advising private equity firms and other institutional investors on major real estate acquisitions and financings.

Arad holds a bachelor's degree in Economics-Mathematics, magna cum laude, from Columbia University. His experience across real estate, investing and finance informs Elio's approach to building a mortgage company designed around better economics, stronger operations and a more modern borrower experience.

Steven Carey is Chief Brokerage Officer at Elio Mortgage. A former brokerage owner and producing loan officer, he brings firsthand experience to Elio's work building better tools and support for mortgage professionals.

Before joining Elio, Steven founded and led an independent mortgage brokerage in Florida. He grew the business through relationships with real estate agents, financial planners and other referral partners, while staying closely involved in loan origination, operations and the borrower experience. That experience now shapes how he works with Elio's technology and operations teams: keeping the needs of loan officers and borrowers at the center of what they build.

Earlier in his career, Steven was a mortgage loan officer with Marine Bank & Trust, where he earned recognition for loan production and fee income. He also held sales, operations and project management roles with Comcast Business and AT&T. Steven attended Middle Tennessee State University and the University of Florida.

At Elio, Steven connects the realities of originating loans with the technology and processes designed to help loan officers serve more borrowers and grow their businesses.
